Assessing B&W Painting

Answer the following questions below under comments in full sentences.  Please be honest and follow the guidelines for each question.  Assessments are intended to help your reflect on what you have created to help you get better on your future assignments, giving you a focus to think about.

 1.  Tell me what you think your strengths are after completing your first painting assignment.  Please be detailed in your response-meaning tell me why you feel this was your strength-don't just say 'just because'.

2.  What is your own personal goal for the next painting assignment?  And tell me how you think you can go about achieving your goal.

3.  Looking at one other piece that is already in the sculpture upfront, I want you to describe one of the pieces that you like using at least 3 art terms.  There is a list of art terms on my from chart if you need help.  Think about some of the terms I used throughout this lesson, like value, smooth flow, etc.

    2. My goal for the next painting assignment is to get better for shading and to achieve this goal I should focus on getting faster for the areas that are wet.

    3. The piece I looked at was smooth when it came to the shading from white to black, the piece had a unique pattern and curves that made it stand out, and my favorite part of the piece was that it was unusual from the other pieces, because of its design.

    1. In my opinion my strength in this project was my grey scale. The blending didn't have any that I noticed.

    2. To be more creative, my first project's picture was centered and some what boring.

    3. From the sculpture. I seen one project that is centered but it is very detailed, shaded very well, and fits the scale of their board.

  6. 1) I think my strengths are more in the details, and smoothing things over (after I figured out a good way for me to do it). I had a lot of trouble blending at first until I got the hang of it. When I did figure it out, I was very pleased with how it turned out.

    2) My next goal is to be smoother in the transition of light to dark where it needs to be.

    3) At the top, one piece I found liking was the cat, it was centered very well, and from the top to bottom it was lightly shaded with more white, and the backgrounds darker grey made it stand out very nicely.

  25. My strength would be creativity . I like the idea i had in my head, and I thought my final piece was okay. It wasn't the neatest, but I like my piece. I like adding texture, too. That is something else I thought I did well. Something I wanted to accomplish in my next piece is blending smoother, and having straighter lines, It just makes your painting look crisp, and a little less sloppy. One of the pieces I like from the sculpture is the Lion King block . The color scheme is nice, and I like that it looks like the artist took their time painting it . Something else i like is the texture the back has. The splatter is a nice add, and I like the colors of blue and purple. I like that the artist took up all of her space, and even spread her pictures on to the side of the block .
